The 2015 VMC meeting will be held at the Capodimonte Observatory in Naples. Naples can be easily reached by Plane; see here for a list of airlines reaching Naples, and here for the web site of the Capodichino International Airport. Naples is also connected to Rome and the other big italian towns by means of high speed trains (Alta Velocita') see here for the Italian railway company (Trenitalia) web site.
The meeting will
be held in the seminar room of the Observatory (here you can
find a detailed map).
Wi-Fi connection will be available during the meeting.
How to reach the Observatory:
The address of the Observatory is the following:
- Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte,
Salita Moiariello 16 - 80131, Napoli.
The best choice is to take a taxi (15-20 min). The typical costs are of 15-20 euro (more on Sunday).
From the main railway station (Napoli Centrale):
taxi (about 10-15 euro) or get the underground
Linea 2 (from "Stazione Piazza Garibaldi" just under
the Napoli Centrale) till the stop Piazza Cavour. After getting off, take the foot tunnel
to Museo Archeologico, then exit.
Catch Bus C63 at the Museo Archeologico bus stop and get off at the Museo di Capodimonte stop. Once here, follow the map above. Alternatively, you can catch the buses R4, 178 or 2M and get off at the "Giardini della principessa Jolanda" stop, then follow the map.
Take the Naples bypass (Tangenziale) in the direction of Pozzuoli - Capodimonte 5 exit. Follow on for Via Capodimonte and, at the turnabout, go on for another kilometer until you reach an intersection. Turn right on Via Capodimonte and after 200 meters turn right again on Via S.Antonio. Stay to your left and continue up the Salita Moiariello. After 100 meters, you have arrived at the Observatory.
