Airport is not far from the Capodimonte Observatory.
To go to the Observatory or Hotel Villa Capodimonte, we strongly suggest you to take a taxi
(~20 min, approx. cost 15-20 euros).
To go to the down-town hotels (Mediterraneo, Napolitamo B&B, Rex, Orchidee, Oriente,
Mercure Angioino, Jolly, Toledo) there is a special bus (approx. cost 3-5 euros)
which goes directly to Piazza Municipio and Napoli Centrale (railway station).
From Piazza Municipio you can reach these hotels in 10-15 min walking.
To go to Youth Hostel Mergellina (and hotel Ausonia) you might take the same bus
and then the metro from Napoli Centrale to Mergellina (total time ~1 hour), or
to take a taxi (~30 min, ~20 euros).
Naples has three
main Railway Stations: Napoli Centrale, Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (which is
below Napoli Centrale) and Napoli Campi Flegrei. You can get the subway
("Metropolitana" or metro`) to go from one of the stations to the other.
The bus-metro` tickets (euro 0.77 each) can be purchased in tobacconist
shops and newsagents.
To reach the Observatory from the Centrale Station we suggest to take a taxi
(~20-30 min, approx. cost 15 euros depending on the traffic).
From Napoli Centrale it is also possible to get a bus (C40 or 110) but they are
not comfortable (not frequent and quite slow, moreover you have to walk 15 min
to reach the Observatory).
Napoli highway exit (from both North or South directions), follow indications
for "Tangenziale" and once in the Tangenziale reach Capodimonte exit. After
paying the fare (euro 0.65 per car), go along the exit way and follow "Osservatorio
Astronomico di Capodimonte" or "Hotel Villa Capodimonte" indications.
by boat at Molo Beverello can take the bus N.24 at Parco
Castello Square, in front of "Maschio Angioino" to come up to Capodimonte
Observatory (approx. time 35 min, vs ~20 min by taxi).
