Abstract:

Classical Cepheids are among the most important distance calibrators thanks to the correlation between their period and luminosity, and play a crucial role in the calibration as the first rung of the extragalactic distance ladder. Given their typical age, they also constitute an optimal tracer of the young population in the Galactic disc. In the first part of my presentation, I will present a homogeneous spectroscopic analysis of 340 Classical Cepheids located in the disk of the Milky Way. This sample is published in the context of the C-MetaLL project, whose main objective is the study of the metallicity dependence of the PL relations. In particular, I will show how Classical Cepheids can be used to study the galactic radial gradient, the spiral structure of the disk and the nucleosynthesis mechanisms of s- and r- process elements. In the second part, I will show recent calibrations of period-Wesenheit-metallicity relations.
