Abstract

Morphological parameters of large and homogeneous samples of galaxy clusters may be used to constrain the formation and the evolution of these systems, and possibly to discriminate between different cosmological models. We are working on the morphological properties of a sample of nearby clusters extracted from the Abell catalog, making use of data from the Digitized Palomar Sky Survey (DPOSS) in the framework of the CRoNaRio project. We derive number counts density profiles and shape parameters for the compact clusters in the sample (using X-ray data analysis software which is optimized to deal properly with low counts) comparing the results with theory and simulations predictions.
