Abstract:

My PhD project is related to gravitational lensing. The objective is to explore its astrophysical and cosmological applications, in connection with cosmological simulations. In particular, the interest is on searching and modelling galaxy-scale gravitational lenses, to pursue the scientific exploitation of new gravitational lenses discovered with ground-based surveys (e.g., KiDS, HSC, DES, …) and with large-scale surveys like Euclid. By comparing the model parameters of the gravitational lenses (e.g., mass, shape, slope of the density profile, IMF, …) with what is expected from hydrodynamical simulations (e.g., EAGLE, CAMELS, IllustrisTNG, …), the aim is to constrain what simulations, characterized by specific cosmological and astrophysical parameters, better agrees with the data.
